Borealis is a private fusion technology developer pursuing proton–boron-11 (pB11) fusion, with the objective of producing dependable electricity at a lower lifetime cost than competing generation technologies. Its approach draws on pB11 research at Princeton University and work undertaken through the Astera Institute’s 1¢/kWh Fusion Energy initiative. The company is at the modelling and experimental-design stage, with its emphasis on power-plant economics guiding technical development.
