Starlight Engine Ltd. was established to oversee the FAST (Fusion by Advanced Superconducting Tokamak) Project. FAST – Fusion by Advanced Superconducting Tokamak – is Starlight Engine’s flagship demonstration project. Initiated in November 2024 as Japan’s first privately led industry-academia fusion initiative, FAST is designed to extract fusion energy from burning plasma and demonstrate electricity generation, targeting a full power generation demonstration in the 2030s as a direct stepping-stone toward commercial fusion plants.
