Beta Fusion – more formally Beta Fusion (Beijing) Energy Technology Co., Ltd. or 贝塔聚变(北京)能源科技有限公司 in Chinese, commonly shortened to 贝塔聚变 – is a Beijing-based nuclear fusion start-up founded by a team of scientists with long experience at the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Plasma Physics (ASIPP). The company is building a pulsed, magnetically compressed, field-reversed configuration (FRC) fusion device, aimed at small, modular power plants rather than a single large grid-scale reactor.
