23 April 2023
Seattle-based startup Avalanche Energy has achieved a significant milestone, operating at 200 kV with its second-generation fusion device, and wrapped up a $40 million venture round. Lowercarbon Capital led the Series A round, with Toyota Ventures and Founders Fund also contributing. Additionally, existing supporters like Congruent Ventures, Grantham Foundation, and Clear Path, as well as new investors including Autodesk, MCJ Collective, and the Climate Capital Syndicate, participated. The funds will be allocated to test, develop, and optimize high-voltage orbitron prototypes, as well as to downsize components crucial to delivering a self-sufficient micro fusion reactor. CEO Robin Langtry believes this funding will accelerate their testing pace, ultimately enabling the delivery of energy-producing micro-fusion reactors.
