Commonwealth Fusion Systems awarded $3.7m from ARPA-E
7 April 2020
Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) secures $3.7 million funding from the U.S. Department of Energy’s ARPA-E, primarily for designing and prototyping a high-temperature-superconducting (HTS) central solenoid for fusion tokamak power plants. This aims to simplify tokamaks and reduce costs. CFS will also contribute high-field HTS magnets to the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s fusion project.
