UK Government commits over £220m to prototype Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production (STEP)

The UK government has created 'UK Industrial Fusion Solutions Ltd' to build a prototype Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production (STEP) plant by 2040. With an initial funding of £220 million, the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) aims to produce a concept design by 2024 to showcase fusion energy's potential for electricity generation.
