NovaFusionX – based in Shanghai, China – is developing small modular fusion reactors using a field-reversed configuration (FRC) approach. The company emerged from stealth in mid-2025. The company is formally, NovaFusion Energy Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. or 诺瓦聚变能源科技（上海）有限公司 in Chinese, often shortened to 诺瓦聚变.

NovaFusionX is focused on small, modular, distributed fusion systems using a Field-Reversed Configuration Small Modular Reactor (场反位形小型模块化反应堆) approach. Its public positioning is “Fusion for AI & Beyond” among to deliver fusion power first to address the need for reliable, low-carbon electricity for artificial-intelligence computing infrastructure and, later, broader industrial and grid applications.
