LPP Fusion or Lawrenceville Plasma Physics Inc. – established in 2003 and headquartered in Middlesex, NJ – is pursuing the development of a compact fusion reactor based on the Dense Plasma Focus (DPF) architecture. The firm’s Focus Fusionconcept is designed to operate with aneutronic hydrogen–boron (pB11) fuel, with the long-term objective of enabling fusion power generation that produces charged particles rather than neutrons, thereby reducing both engineering complexity and radioactive by-products.
Current research efforts are concentrated on enhancing the energy yield, confinement characteristics, and repeatability of DPF discharges. LPP Fusion has reported significant progress in generating high-energy, magnetically confined plasmoids—structures that are central to achieving the requisite temperatures and densities for pB11 fusion.
