Gauss Fusion – founded in 2022 and headquartered in Munich, Germany – is developing a commercial fusion power plant based on the stellarator concept, leveraging its inherent advantages in steady-state operation and plasma stability. The company brings together a consortium of industrial founding partners, including Alcen (France), ASG Superconductors (Italy), Bruker EAS (Germany), IDOM (Spain), and RI Research Instruments (Germany), forming a supply chain and engineering base capable of supporting large-scale fusion system development.
Gauss Fusion collaborates closely with leading research institutions such as the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP) and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) to advance stellarator physics, high-temperature superconducting technologies, and reactor-relevant components.
The company plans to progress from initial deuterium–tritium (DT) operation toward deuterium–deuterium (DD) fuel cycles, with the long-term objective of deploying a gigawatt-class fusion power plant by 2045.
