Realta Fusion, founded in 2022 and based in Madison, WI, is an early-stage company that was spun out from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2022. The company is developing a fusion system based on a magnetic mirror concept, specifically the Wisconsin High-field Axisymmetric Mirror (WHAM). WHAM, successfully generated its first plasma on July 15, 2024.
The company’s goal is to construct a commercially viable reactor by the 2030s for industrial heat and hydrogen production.
