First Light Fusion, founded in 2011 in Kidlington, England, has advanced multiple concepts for achieving inertial confinement fusion, beginning with hypervelocity projectile impacts and, more recently, unveiling a new pathway toward commercial power generation. The company’s evolving strategy now couples near-term commercialisation of its projectile-based amplifier technology with a longer-term power-plant concept termed FLARE (Fusion via Low-power Assembly and Rapid Excitation).
